Just chatted briefly with John Dery, who graduated from Grand Rapids Catholic Central this spring. John confirmed that he'll be playing for the Green Mountain Glades in Burlington, Vermont in the fall. The Glades play in the Eastern Junior Hockey League, which includes teams from throughout New England. A good number of EJHL players end up playing D-1 or D-3 hockey, primarily at schools on the East Coast. Dery says he intends to take some courses while he's playing this fall, but his ultimate hope is to make it to a Division One school to play hockey.

Hey big John(senior) That makes alot of kids from that old Eastbrook Street to take it beyond high school. Must have been something in the water, or maybe the older kids taught the younger ones well. At least John Jr. has better skills on skates than the old man... remember when YOU first started mens league don't you? Congrats to the boy and hope you and Rita get a chance to watch some of his games next year.
From your old neighbor and his sons!
