Coaching changes

A couple of quick coaching changes to Blog. Got a note from Kevin Zaschak of Forest Hills Northern/Eastern yesterday, who said he has resigned from coaching the hockey team to pursue his doctorate degree at MSU. He admits to becoming a Spartan is "weird" having grown up in the shadow of Ann Arbor as a Wolverine fan. No word on his replacement.

Also over in Forest Hills, Scott Titus has stepped down from the head coaching job at FHC to focus on family -- his wife is reportedly pregnant -- and teaching. Titus teaches at East Grand Rapids High School, where he also coaches the JV baseball team. Over at West Catholic, Pat Thompson and his staff will not be behind the bench next year. Have heard that WC's JV coach Curt Wildman will take over.

Looks like Zimmerman might benefit by not getting the Grandville job because FHNE or FHC would be a better job than Grandville

I don't know?? If I was a betting man and gave both FHNE and FHC some credit, I don't think they would be a good fit

Anonymous said...

why would they not be a good fit

You cannot replace a coach who is in the building and having daily contact with our boys. This will be a tough one to fill

Why did Zimmerman get let go by MS? Why did he not get the Grandville job? Good fit or not?

Anonymous said...

zimmerman wasn't let go, he resigned for reasons not released to the public.

Do a little more homework and see if you still think it is a good fit!!!

Even if you do research, I doubt you will find anything about Zimm resigning.

Anonymous said...

You might be surprised.

I think Zim will be the next coach at FHNE. I'm sure he has an axe to grind to prove himself

Zim has obviously proved himself in the hockey world and his record shows that. Being selected for FHNE of FHC, time will tell.
I am sure that schools/ADs talk to each other to make sure that the best person gets the job. You can BET on that

He won't go to FHC

Anonymous said...

Why??

Anonymous said...

I hear that Slobo from walker is going to get the FHC job

Anonymous said...

slobo turned it down

Anonymous said...

Are you hearing who might be taking the FHC job?

Anonymous said...

I heard Slobo and Hess

Anonymous said...

Slobo wouldn't coach with Hess again after there coaching experience they had coaching at East Kentwood Travel. I can guarantee that they aren't coaching together.

Anonymous said...

Slobo is staying put at Walker. Zimmerman to FHNE and FHC will end up with their assistant coach.

Zimmerman is a lock on the FHN job ? Yea thats what the geniuses said about the Grandville job a year ago...I'll wait for announcement thanks ...

Anonymous said...

Zimmerman will only come if there is a teaching job in the school system also. That is why he turned down the Grandville job, they could not get him a teaching gig. Turned out Ok for Grandville, they have a great coach with Bynski.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, something like that...

Anonymous said...

You heard it hear first. Zim WILL be the next coach at FHNE

Do you have to have any knowledge to post on this topic? Slobo and Hess coached together at Walker after leaving Kentwood, so I am not certain what that the above post is referring to regarding "the experience" at Kentwood. I guess being 1 of the top 4 in the state for 2 year really left a nasty taste in their mouth.

You must not know the truth than

Anonymous said...

Those boys that played for Slobo and Hess that year at Kentwood were very lucky boys. They were the two best coaches in West MI and it shows because all of the kids that played for them were the top kids this year on the high school teams.

Kentwood hockey has always done a great job of producing top high school talent . Just ask Catholic Central and Grandville

Very Good article, you make some interesting points .

Zimm has better things to do than coach HS hockey. He has been there, done that and has the ring to prove it. Time for bigger and better things to do. Look for him inthe juniors or college rinks.

You must not know him. He has something to prove to the people that let him go at Mona. I'd be worried after he gets the FHNE job if I was Mona

Anonymous said...

um i am pretty sure mona did not "let him go," he resigned. so why don't you not act like you know everything

Anonymous said...

Prove something to Mona? Didn't he win state and frequently make it to the final four while behind the bench for the Sailors? He didn't resign because he was a bad coach.

Anonymous said...

Oh come on now. You think he resigned because he wanted to. Mona screwed him over and he will get them back. Stay tuned Sailor fans. Your admin screwed this one up

Anonymous said...

i think that you have no idea what you are talking about. you dont know anything that went on at mona or what led zimmerman to resign, so until you do just shut up.

Anonymous said...

Really. You'd be surprised. Being a big Zim fan and former player I feel I know plenty of what happened. I hope he gets another high school job and the Mona admin get what they deserve

I think enough has been said about Coach Zimmerman's future. Time will tell about the choice that HE will make. Yes, everyone is aware that there was an issue at MS but perhaps unless you were a fly on the wall YOU may not know all of the details. Enough said.

does anyone know any updates on the open coaching jobs at FHN or FHC? hearing a lot different stories but that is all.
