this game was really sloppy on both sides. Refs started to take the game over by the end. some of the penalties were obvious, but there were a lot of ticky-tack calls that put both teams at severe disadvantages. especially during the 2nd half of the 2nd period. it seemed like play wouldn't go for 30 seconds without a penalty being called. Rockford took a 5-3 lead during an at least 6 minute long 5 on 3 powerplay. refs just needed to swallow their whistles tonight.
A much closer game than the score indicated. Score was 3-3 after two periods, when MCC started an endless parade to the penaly box, resulting in 5-6 minutes of five on three play for Rockford, which they did capitalize on. Some calls were warranted, some were nick-picky, certainly considering it was 5 on 3 forever. Probably a bit too much of overzealous calls.
Rockford took too many penalties in the 2nd period when they were up 2-0 which resulted in MCC getting back into the game. Then MCC took too many in the third and Rockford capitalized on them. Agree, lots of nick-picky calls and the final score is a bit misleading.
Kenowa Hills sophomore Paul Kloska goes hard to the net against Kentwood, while Falcon all-state defenseman Ben Grover ties him up.
