Portage Northern 10 Kalamazoo United 2

Portage Northern cracked a 2-2 tie with eight unanswered goals to win big in Kalamazoo. United jumped into the lead very early in the first period when Brian Phillips banged in a goal assisted by Matt Schettner. Northern answered right back when Matt Duris threw a wrister over the shoulder of Kalamazoo United goalie Steven Woods. Brian Mulhern assisted on Northern's first goal. The Huskies took the lead for the first time when Kevin Campbell found a streaking Doug Wheelright who tipped the puck into the goal. Only two minutes later, Kalamazoo United's Tony Noyes received a pass from Hunter Atkins and froze the Northern goalie to tie the game. Wheelright then put the Huskies in the lead for good and they never looked back scoring 8 unanswered goals. JC Burdiak earned the win for Portage Northern in goal.

Northern's Josh Ruggles had the best game of his career tonight with 1 goal and 2 assists. Rob Fender (2 goals), Kevin Campbell (1 goal, 1 assist), Travis Tuma (1 goal, 1 assist), Nicco Braganini (1 goal, 1 assist), Matt Norman (1 goal), and Ray Griener (1 assist) rounded out the scoring.
