Big Rapids once again came up short against another tough Detroit area team this past weekend, losing 4-1 in a very physical battle. In the first period, on a 4 on 4 , Brandon Madaj scored on a nice pass, with Jordan Defever getting the assist. This would be the only goal for the Cardinals and after one period Big Rapids lead Dearborn Divine Child 1-0. The 2nd period once again proved to be difficult for the Cardinals. During the period the team took 7 penalties and the DDC team scored once on a 5 on 3. Bob Butterfield took 8 power play shots during the period and made several fantastic stops. In the third, Big Rapids could only generate 2 shots during the period, as the Cardinals were outworked in the second period and the affects for those penalties showed. DDC scored three more times even though goal tender Butterfield again made several key stops and gained 23 total saves on the night.
