East Grand Rapids center Luke Glendenning will join the University of Michigan hockey team next season as a walk-on, coach Red Berenson announced this week. A three-sport star in high school, Glendenning graduated in 2007 and spent a so-called "13th year" at Hotchkiss, a prep school in Connecticut. The story has it that U of M coaches were out east, scouting another player when they caught a look of Glendenning and found out he was a homegrown Michigan kid. Luke's younger brother, Joe, will be a senior at EGR next season.

Is it true that this is the first hockey player from EGR to go on to play division 1 hockey? Congrats to a great player and an even better kid.
I believe Luke was preceeded by Scott Titus (ex-FHC coach) who played at Ohio State.
Speaking of Scott Titus (ex-FHC coach). Has anyone heard who is coaching FHC or FHN next year? Can not believe that it has gone this long without getting coaches in place
I heard some names being pushed around. Zim's name still comes up with the FHN job. For FHC Gutos and Styles. Don't know who they are
yeah i heard Gutos and Styles for FHC.
All I know is that the players nad parents at FHC will not be pleased with either Guy Gutos or Laura Styles. Gutos is nothing more than a JV coach and Styles will not be able to gain respect from the players that is necessary as a coach. I have heard Rob Feenie as a possible candidate as well, which would be a much better fit for the current team.
No way Stiles gets it.
fhc will be bad whoever gets it
john agnello for fhn, whoever the hell that is. they lost out on zimmerman when they wouldnt even give him an interview. wat a sad situation it is over there for both fhn and fhe with the athletic directors not doing there jobs and hiring or even giving interviews to the right people for any of there sports
I also believe that a star by the name of Mike Viglinoni who passed away 2 years ago was an East player who went on to play D I at MSU.
Mike Vigleon did not play NCAA at MSU - he told me he played "intermural club"
john agnello coached for ottawa/union a few years back. he also coached for some junior team in new york or something i think..
What does Forest Hills Hockey have to do with this post. This is one of the great stories to come out of West MI HS hockey. Congrat's to Luke and his family for doing it the right way. To FH fans....there is a seperate forum for you. Use it.
