Grand Rapids Catholic Central senior Adam Janecyk was chosen as the 65th pick overall in the United States Hockey League entry draft a few minutes ago. Janecyk, a three-time All-State goalie for the Cougars, was picked by the Sioux City Musketeers. If I'm not mistaken, he is the first Michigan high school player selected in this year's draft, though there are other travel players from Michigan who were chosen. He will be joined on the Musketeers by Brent Darnell from Detroit Catholic Central. Darnell was selected 123rd overall. More information to come.

Gaylord High School's D Will Weber was selected as the USHL's # 1 overall pick 1 year ago by the Chicago Steel and just completed his season for Chicago. He was also selected in the 2nd round of the NHL draft last year by Columbus. Will played 4 years at Gaylord HS and did not play juniors.
Blogger is speaking about this years draft. Last year was Will followed by a number of other highschoolers in Alexander, Miller, Chelios(06?), and Rohrkemper to name a few off the top of my head. There are others playing in the USHL that did not get drafted as well. Max Grover at Sioux Falls comes to mind.
Congrats Janny!
Andrew(Boo)Rowe from Mona, now at MSU, played 2 years at Sioux City.
Just an FYI
Nice job Adam! Good luck at the tryouts. We believe in you!
Trivia Question. Where did Janny play prior to CC. Assuming he is a 90, he wasn't playing for Slobo because they had Hermann and Hess. Playing up at GRAHA or what. Same with Brackett. Where were those guys at? I know the history on the rest. Thanks.
janny played for the cc jv(? 1-2 yrs) where he faced, at times 60-70 shots a game. brackett played AAA
it is awesome to see good things happen to great kids who work hard....way to go janny. best of luck!!!
