...and then there were none

FHNE lost to Trenton tonight, eliminating the final team from the West side of the state in the MHSAA championship round. Congratulations to the Forest Hills team for earning the spot in the final four of Division 2. Will be back to Blog tomorrow and over the weekend. Stay tuned for a wrap up on the year and some plans for the "off season" - plus the plans for next year.

FHNE gave a great effort for 2.5 periods. 2 to 2 after 1, 3 to 2 after 2, then an unfortunate 4th goal broke their backs. Can't blame a 7 to 3 loss on one call or no whistle in this situation. But the shoulders definitely dropped and a 2 minute penalty hurt for arguing with the ref after Trenton's 4th goal.

Trenton is a great team and deserved the win. But the score doesn't tell the whole story.

Congratulations to FHNE for a great post season run, especially the seniors who stepped up big in the playoffs.

You made us proud!!!!

And so it ends for the W MI teams. I know it's tough right now because you wanted to WIN it all...but we are proud of you - players and coaches - from GRCC, EK, FHN/E, and Rockford. You guys gave it your all and you should be proud of yourselves.

All the way to State Semi-Finals - first time in the history of Forest Hills N/E hockey. Your goal was to get to Compuware and you made it! Along the way you built a team, a family of players both on and off the ice. Congratulations on a great season.

Thx WMHSH Blogger for all you have done & not finished yet. your postings, objective game reviews & reminders to keep it clean helps everyone. your stats on any game or player are more accurate than any written or TV press. they should be calling to hire you. I think you do this as a volunteer. For all who enjoy your work, we can each donate whatever we can afford to help you with the site. Minor compared to what you do. Please let us know how we can most help you keep doing this .

We are so very proud of FHNE Hockey Team. We love the boys and their fighting spirit. They left everything on the ice.

We are privileged to a part of the West Michigan community. As a player parent, I can share that the team felt the encouragement and support of the West Michigan hockey family. Thank you!

Blogger - you are first class and an asset to high school hockey in West Michigan. Much respect to you.

Congrats FHN/E, you made a lot of people proud of the schools you represent with your success on the ice and the class you displayed this season. Seniors, it has been a pleasure watching you improve these past few years, Coach Zaschak should be very proud of the men you have become. Remember the lessons he has taught you and make this world a better place. The rest of the team, I can’t wait till next season starts up and you get to lace them up, you have a great core group of guys to build on. Work on your strength and conditioning, with the addition of the Cougars into Tier 1, the competition is only going to get better.

Brian – Much thanks for the job you have done on this site, I was wondering at the beginning of the season if it would be mainly a CC site, but your efforts truly made it a West Michigan site, you don’t know how much I’ve enjoyed the articles and the photos of all the teams, it is a first class site.
