After a wild week of pre-regional action, the first regional games begin tonight. The only West Michigan team that's on the dance card for this Friday evening is Forest Hills Northern/ Eastern, which takes on Haslett-Williamston at Suburban Ice in East Lansing. Game time is 8 p.m. Good seats still available. FHN/E appears tonight based on its 4-3 nailbiter against DeWitt and a 5-2 cuticle chewer against crosstown rival FHC. Haslett Williamston has a young team that finished just 5-13 in its conference (the Capital Area Activities Conference), which it won the previous two seasons. Haslett, which earned the regional berth with wins over Okemos and East Lansing, is lead by on of the CAAC's top players: senior Johnny Vlahakis (#19), along with junior Adam Everhardt (#17). Both finished with more than 20 points in league games. Senior Jeff Robitaille backstops the HW team in net. The winner of tonight's game gets the winner of the Mona-Portage Central game being played tomorrow.

FHNE 7, Haslett/Williamston 1. HW showed a ton of class shaking hands and staying to watch FHNE awarded the regional trophy.
Agreed, and I appreciated the way they didn't slam their sticks until the last note of the national anthem was played, and then it was only one time. Well done.
