Trenton Showcase

The pairings are out for the 2007-08 Michigan High School Hockey Showcase played at Kennedy Recreation Center in Trenton. There are 7 West Michigan teams invited to play this year: East Kentwood, Forest Hills N/E, Grand Rapids Catholic Central, Muskegon Mona Shores, Portage Central, Traverse City Central and Traverse City West. I spoke with a few local coaches who were buzzing about the matchups, especially GRCC's draw for the showcase: perennial powerhouse Detroit Catholic Central and Birmingham Brother Rice. The latter game ought to be a great one, says East Kentwood Coach Todd Bell, whose Falcons have faced both GRCC and BBR this season. "It's at the main rink at 4 p.m. on Friday, and it's going to be the one game that the coaches and players from other teams are going to watch," Bell says.
