Barry Toornman earned the #1 star of this game tonight as the Portage Northern Huskies shut out Muskegon Reeths Puffer 4-0. Toornman stopped all 14 shots that Muskegon threw at him including 3 break away chances to earn the victory.
After a scoreless first period, Kevin Campbell scored a short handed goal at 10:45 of the 2nd period to get the Huskies on the board. Nicco Braganini created the turnover that led to Campbell's first goal. Only 4 minutes later, Campbell scored another short hander. Once again, Braganini stole the puck in the neutral zone and skated it deep into the offensive zone. Campbell was streaking to the net and banged home the goal. The Huskies scored their 3rd goal of the 2nd period with only 22 seconds remaining. Doug Wheelright moved the puck to Campbell who found Braganini on the back door. The 3rd period was wide open as both teams had numerous scoring chances. With 8 minutes remaining in the game and the Huskies short handed again, Braganini scored the final goal. Wheelright added his 2nd assist. Eddy Young stopped 16 of the 20 shots he faced for Reeths Puffer.
