Mona got two quick ones in the first, but RP battled back with a PP goal to make it 2-1 after one period. The Sailors scored one on the PP (10:41) and a shorthanded goal (4:04) in the second to put the game on ice. Mona gets one more in garbage time, scoring with 11 seconds left to make the final score 5-1.
Sailors goals were scored by Austin Zaloga, Taylor Moore, Brock Carlston (2), and Ryan Ellis, with assists from JC Boyd, Brendan Sturr, Tyler McCarl, Adam Meloche, and Eric Moblo. For Ellis, who got the final goal, it is the first of his high school career.
RP goal was by Ben Sikkenga from Jake Hambidge. Shots were 29 - 13 in favor of the Sailors. In net for MS was Chris Barrett; and for RP, Eddie Young.

Finally a Mona Shores game summary I could read and enjoy. Thank you!!
That was dryer than melba toast. Don't let these uptight sallys cramp your writing style.
My roving/raving Mona correspondent couldn't get a recreation pass last night, so the WMHSH Blogger had to fill in for the night. Fear not, we have arranged for our man in the field to get a weekend pass, so he'll be traveling to Alpena to watch and blog about the Sailors this weekend. Which is good, because I when I was writing this up last night and wanted to honor Ryan Ellis for his first goal, the best I could come up with was Ryan "Flowers and vines growing on a trellis" Ellis.
BORING...!!! Why be a follower when we have a Blog Master LEADER!! Missed the excitement of the write up!! Look forward to the Alpena weekend stories!!
Like the humor in it, keeps everybody wondering...and gets a reaction either good or bad. He was under the weather last night, just couldn't get in that zone of fantastic journalism.
I heard he got fired from the blog. Thats just what i heard.
Not true. In fact, the WMHSH Blog is negotiating a long-term contract extension with the roving/raving Mona correspondent, including all rights to his hockey blogging, memoirs and screenplay, as well as the Mona Blogger Bobblehead.
We only hate it when he over embellishes the game so that you lose interest AND STOP READING. A "little" humor is okay, not the "over the top" fairy tales!
Well-The Mona Shores Hockey Club holds first right to all his blogs. Any deal would have to run through the President and he can be a real difficult to deal with.
Thanks West MI HS Hockey Fan for having the kahunas to negotiate a long term deal with your correspondent. I still have to pinch myself after reading his recaps to make sure I'm not dreaming.
some people just have absolutely no sense of humor. But the real tragedy is that they try to ruin it for everyone else, the ones who don't lack the humor gene. don't stop bloging because of the complainers who had a rough childhood.
I know the president of the MS hockey club and be careful...don't make him mad. His whole head turns red, he starts to grow something resembling horns and starts breathing fire. I make a wide path around him whenever I see him at the games.
Hey . . . I was disappointed not to see the roving/raving Mona bloggers comments on the game. And believe it or not I am the parent of one of the RP players. Keep up the great work Mona blogger, can't wait to read about the Alpena trip!
was looking forward to reading MS/RP blog today and i get THIS? I'd rather read TPS reports at work. Bring back the master blogger.
MS Fan
Hey, for a traveling dad who had to miss the game, I'll take any information I can get. Thanks 'Fan for the post on the game. As for the MS Mad-blogger, he'll hear it about missing his story deadline.
to the people who complain about these articles:
please explain something. If you can get the score elsewhere (M Live, your local newspaper, the box scores on this site...) and the write ups by this author make you mad, why do you continue to read them? Do you like to be mad?
