The updated rankings are posted on the MHSHCA website. There are no changes to when it comes to the West Michigan teams; however, the teams from the left side of the big mitten did have an impact on overall rankings. For example, OLSM fell three spots in D-1 after losing to Mona Shores and tying Portage Central last week. In D-2, Wyandotte moved up two spots to the #2 ranking based on its winning the inaugural East-West Invitational, including a 2-1 OT thriller in the championship over Grand Rapids Catholic Central.
West Michigan teams could very well impact the standings next week based on how they do this weekend. Witness: Forest Hills Northern/Eastern takes on #1 in D-1, Livonia Stevenson, on Friday night down at Eddie Edgar Arena. Traverse City Central plays Grosse Pointe South, rated #5 in D-2, on Friday night in the East Kentwood Tournament, while Mona Shores plays Alpena (#8 in D-2) Friday and either Marquette (#5 D-1) or Crankbrook (#3 D-3) on Saturday in the Booster Invitational at Northern Lights.
Finally, Big Rapids and Portage Northern are traveling over to Monroe to play in the St. Mary's Catholic Central tourney, which includes a couple of Top 10 teams in D-3: SMCC, ranked #2, and Riverview, ranked #9. This week's rankings are:
