MCC 4 Mattawan 3 (OT)

A great game tonight in Kalamazoo between two very stubborn teams. Muskegon Catholic jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first period with goals from Kyle Kampenga and Adam Pieczynski. Mattawan answered back later in the first period with goals by Josh Davidson and Austin Avery. The Wildcats then took the lead early in the second period when Drew Reenders fired a wrister over the glove of MCC's freshman goalie Thomas Marine glove for Mattawan's third consecutive goal. Kampenga evened the score at 3 with only 2 minutes remaining in the second period. Both goalies, Marine for MCC and Anders Helakoski for Mattawn, pitched shutouts in the third period. In overtime, MCC's Noah VanBergen intercepted the puck in the Mattawan zone and beat Helakoski for the game winner. VanBergen ended the game with 1 goal and 2 assists.

Or, as the announcer said, "Kyle Ka-ping-ga". Yeah, he IS tall, and he WAS the MVP. Very strong game by the Redwood on Skates.

Kyle Kampenga has a great head of hair, as well as being kind of tall.

If you could put Kyle Kampenga's arms on Erin Cutter's body, you would really have something.
