Catholic Memorial 3 GRCC 2

Catholic Memorial of Milwaukee hands the Cougars their first loss of the season with a 3-2 win in the championship of the Joe Raymond Memorial Tournament. CM got on the board with two quick even-strength goals, before Clayton Brackett responded with a low rocket from the blue line. Then, with the Cougars on the powerplay, they turned the puck over to CM's all-state forward Jeff Costello, who scored on a breakwaway. GRCC's Kevin Boman snuck one on the short-side during the second period to cut the margin to 3-2, but CC could never get the equalizer, despite playing a dominant third period. Final shots were 30-17 in favor of GRCC. Tip the hat to CM goaltender David Chapin, who made 23 saves in the final two period.
