Catholic Memorial of Milwaukee hands the Cougars their first loss of the season with a 3-2 win in the championship of the Joe Raymond Memorial Tournament. CM got on the board with two quick even-strength goals, before Clayton Brackett responded with a low rocket from the blue line. Then, with the Cougars on the powerplay, they turned the puck over to CM's all-state forward Jeff Costello, who scored on a breakwaway. GRCC's Kevin Boman snuck one on the short-side during the second period to cut the margin to 3-2, but CC could never get the equalizer, despite playing a dominant third period. Final shots were 30-17 in favor of GRCC. Tip the hat to CM goaltender David Chapin, who made 23 saves in the final two period. Congrats to Brackett and Lucas McShosh, who were named to the all-tournament team. There is a brief summary on the Wisconsin Preps Hockey website. (BTW, the site is run by PointStreak, which administers the LCAHL site and stats. Why doesn't Michigan HS Hockey use this?)
