In the opening game of the K-Blades Tournament, Lowell/Caledonia played the host Blades to a 0-0 score at the end of two periods after Corey Phillips for L/C and John Lloyd of the Blades put on a goaltending clinic. The third period turned out to be totally the opposite, as both teams lit up the scoreboard. After L/C scored on a power-play 18 seconds into the third, the Blades came back with three of their own. After a time-out L/C put on the charge and tied the score at 3 apiece with 4:05 to go in the third. After several chances by both teams, L/C senior Drake Chittenden took the puck at center ice and put a move on the Blade defensemen to get in the clear and nailed the upper corner for the win with 10 seconds left in the game. L/C will face Auburn Hills Avondale, a winner over K-United in the championship at 4 pm sat. L/C will try to redeem themselves after a 9-2 loss against Avondale over the Christmas holiday.
