BR vs FHNE - lots of talent on the ice...where do these kids come from? It was nice to see that the ref's let them play hockey and that the fans respected that. FHNE will go far in the playoffs...just watch!

Yep as far as the quarterfinals. Then shores or Portage Central will send them home

east should have won that game, mona got their last goal when they were offsides ... its even on tape, that was a cheap goal

EGR scored when the period was already over, everything even's out. Plus if you score on a goalie from the red line, thats pretty bad for the goalie.

I thought a coach had to be asked to leave the game if he stepped onto the ice to question a call.

The Sailors need one more win to clinch the conference title. They could still lose their final three games. They need to beat Rockford to clinch the title, or they could beat Grandville or East Kentwood to clinch the title. In all likelyhood they will be crowned champs, but they still need one more win.

I'm speculating here, but with the "tag up" rule this goal counts because the puck had not crossed the goal line before the Sailors left the zone. It is not a question of when the puck crossed the blue line, but the goal line!!!!!

I personally detest the tag up rule as it lowers the skill level of the game, but it's the current rule.

Go back and look at your film (objectively) and then make your decision. I suspect that the extra two or three tenths of a second or so for the puck to travel from the blue line to the goal line afforded the Sailor players the opportunity to be out of the zone. Thus, the play would have continued if the puck had went into the corner. In this case, the puck somehow found the back of the net. Good goal.

This is the only plausible explanation I can come up with as to why the officials called it good!

to the 7th post: shores and grandville arent going to make up that game so shores only has rockford and east kentwood left as conference games, a win today against rockford would guarantee the conference title

Credit your source for not making up the game! Games can be made up after both teams are out of the state tournament AND before the 15th of March (which is the official MHSAA end of the winter season.)

The only way the Grandville game will matter is if shores loses to both Rockford AND East Kentwood, therefore there is no need to make it up unless that happens

If kenowa and huds both win out conference play they share they title. What ever happened to the amazing central team?

The tag up rule is far better than automatic off-sides. Players and coaches alike hated it. It keeps the game moving. Why should a team that can't get the puck out of their zone properly and efficiently be rewarded with automatic off-sides?
Tag-up does not lower the skill level of the game either. If that was the case, every junior, college and pro league in the world would use it. That comment sounds similar to the MASS head of hockey saying icing should be eliminated from the PK, because it would increase creativity. Please.

After wacthing the Hudsonville Kenowa game last night I cant believe Kenowa has won as many games as the have the only spot they are any good is in Net!! Fuzzy is a very good net minder

after watching kenowa and hudsonville last night i wonder to my self how kenowa is doing so good because they sure didn't look so hot last night, hats off to fuzzy he had some outstanding saves and kept them in there most of the game. Hudsonville finally started to come around on their PP which helped them win the game

Well if EK wins on Friday Feb.22, then Shores will have to play Grandville for the conference title. Good Job Rockford!!! I have to give EGR some credit for almost pulling it off.

Rockford 3 Mona Shores 1. Great game by Rockford. #8 Andrew Beeg had all three goals for Rockford. They really came to play tonight especially the seniors with it being the last time they play Mona. Too bad for Mona's seniors. Not!!

Rockford beat Mona, that makes them great. Not!! When was the last time they won conference???

Anonymous said...

prolly never

Next year!

yeah if they get knocked down to tier 2 they might win conference

That "amazing" Central team plays Kenowa Friday for the Tier II title. If they win that game Hudsonville finishes 2nd and Kenowa 3rd.

Portage Central in the Quarterfinals, doubtful. 9 of their 10 wins are against the other weak K'zoo area teams by an avg. differential of 5 goals. Most of their games against quality teams were an L.

the ruling for touch up offsides is if the puck is shot in when the players are offsides and the shot goes on net, then wheater it hits the goalie and bounces away or if it goes in, no matter what, then the whistle should be blown and the play should be stopped. Not taking anything away from both teams, just stating the rule. It was a great game and both teams seem to be playing well at the right time.

What if the offsides player clears the zone before the puck enters the net? Would this make the goal legit?
