Portage Northern vs. Portage Central (tonight, 6:30 p.m. @ Wings). Who needs football when you can watch a great matchup like the one on tap tonight in Kalamazoo? The crosstown rivals, two of the top teams in the SWMHSHL, face off in the Portage Classic this evening at 6:30 p.m. at Wings Stadium. PC features a high-scoring offense, lead by senior Jared Hook. PN takes a team-oriented "No Stars" approach with senior leadership from Kevin Campbell and Nick Cruse. This one is expected to draw a crowd of more than 2,000 with proceeds going to the Rotary. BTW, there's a release online that notes, "Any players in the KOHA program can get FREE admission to the game by wearing their KOHA jersey." (Anyone have a size XL they can spare?). Should be a great game...and besides, the Patriot and Ravens don't kick off until 9 p.m.

I thought PC controlled the game from start to finish. PN just didn't have the depth to roll three lines with PC. Probably should have been a 7-1 game, but for the play of Toornman in net (he always plays well against PC).
