The hockey looked much better today out at Lakeshore. Of the games I saw, there was just better flow and puck movement today. Missed the early games with Rockford and FHNE, but caught a lot of the Kalamazoo Blades win over Avondale. The Blades are a young team, but balanced and they hustle. Likewise, GRCC is a young team with a ton of freshman and sophomores playing around a core of 7-8 upperclassmen. They lost 2-1, but outplayed RGR for much of the second and third period. Hudsy looked much stronger than yesterday and kept it close against a tough Macomb team. Mona was pretty dominant against Utica-Eisenhower, and Reeths-Puffer played Lakeland tight, but gave up a 5-on-3 and two shorthanded goals ("We didn't work on special teams in practice this week," said RP Coach Eric Sikkenga.) Scores were:
Southgate 4 Novi 0
Lake Orion 3 Rockford 1
Marquette 3 FHNE 2
Kalamazoo 6 Avondale 3
Lakeland 3 Reeths-Puffer 1
Riverview 2 GRCC 1
Macomb 3 Hudsonville 0
Mona 4 Eisenhower Utica 1
