Grand Rapids Catholic Central (22-3-2) vs. Flint Powers (23-3-1) - (7:25 @ The Summit in Lansing) - One team is a Catholic school with 10 seniors and an awesome goalie. The other team is a Catholic school with 10 seniors and an awesome goalie. Should be one heckuva battle tonight in Lansing, as GRCC tries to make its third straight trip to Compuware, lead by an outstanding senior class that's loaded with talent. The Cougars' senior goalkeeper, Adam Janecyk, has come up big the past two years in the quarters, particularly his 42-save gem last year. And two years ago, Janny and his teammates beat Flint Powers in OT to advance to their first final four. This should be one of the better games of the playoffs.
Rockford (16-11-0) vs. Marquette (18-5-3) - (7 p.m. @ Ferris State/Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids) - The Rams have had their ups and downs this season, but they've been on an up in the playoffs, spurred by seniors Tyler Hall, Tyler Glass and Andrew Beeg upfront, as well as junior Forrest Andrus in the nets. Truth be told, Rockford has also gotten some very timely goals by less known players like Travis Guest, and the defense has been swarming. Rockford will need to be firing on all cylinders tonight against a very talented Marquette team, which thumped TC West and Escanaba to earn its spot in the quarters.
East Kentwood (11-15-1) vs. Clarkston (10-15-2) - (7:30 p.m. @ Suburban Ice Sports Center in East Lansing) - When the East Kentwood team scouted Clarkston recently, they thought something looked familiar -- and it wasn't just their won-lost records. In fact, both have played tough competition this year (one of the reasons for the W-L records) and both play a similar style of hockey. Kentwood has a rookie coach, Todd Bell, and only a handful of seniors, including Ben Grover, Tyler Copeland, Miguel Rodriguez and Kyle Harrison. Tonight is a night for them to step up and get EK back to a place they were last year (and no one expected them to be this season): Compuware and the final four.

Correction on the GRCC Flint game fro 2 years ago. It wasn't an overtime win, GRCC scored with 1:09 left in regulation.
grcc loses 1-0, flint powers scored with like 6 or 7 minutes left in 3rd and grcc wasnt able to score even after pullin thier goalie. sad to see them lose.
heard rockford lost, no suprise there.
kentwood loses to clarkston 4-1.
rockford only lost 2-1 though, somewhat surprising and respectable. ek out shot clarkston 31-17 yet still lost 4-1.
and then there was one-FHNE
Rockford loss by 1 shows the guts/effort they brought. MRT is never easy & after Trenton showcase - they picked up their game big time.
EK had 5 penalties in 2nd period.EK players on ice thru-out game nicely asked refs about why they missed/did not call obvious severe Clarkson penalties. EK wanted & did play clean hockey. Clarkson goalie & a few others did not. When both Lansing Midget minor teams on the other rink "growned" when they saw these refs, one knows somthing is wrong. Clarkson won not becuz of refs - they outplayed EK with some great goalie saves. Yet ask any EK player -each will say Howell is the better team between the two. The best team does not always win. clarkston will not win states unlesss they just get uckey & have the same refs.
Sour Grapes dude. Always blame the the refs. I agree on the best team doesn't always win. You did beat Cranbrook,right?
No sour grapes & no blamee to refs. All were very suprised by both lansing teams players views - right or wrong. Refs don't decide games -players do. If you want facts one can't ignore the lack of balance in penalities called when obvious to all on both teams.
Comments cleary state Clarkston outplayed EK, with credit given to strong saves by Clarkson goalie.
EK did beat Cranbrook & lost to teams they could /should have beat. Same is true for all teams. Unless you watched both the Howell & Clarktson games vs EK, you may not know how good Howell is. We do agree on one key item: the best team in any game does not always win.
