Rockford 2 Hudsonville 1

Awesome game with a great finish. After a scoreless first, the Rams got on the board when Travis Guest ripped a wrister past H'ville goalie Pete Herman on the powerplay. Mason McGillicudy and Adam Hoard collected assists on the play. Hudsonville had a great PP chance of its own with just 28 seconds left in period 2, when John Kersaan received a pass just below the right dot and with a wide-open net in front of him. Somehow, Rockford goalie Forrest Andrus got over and stacked the pads, then flung a leg in the air and deflected the puck over the top of the net. It was positively Broduer-like.

In the third, Hudsonville got the equalizer when Kurtis Potter, recently released from the penalty box for holding, got around a Ram defenseman and flipped a sick backhander past the sprawling Andrus. The teams battled pretty evenly for the next eight-and-a-half minutes until Andrew Beeg headmanned the puck to Tyler Hall, who turned the defender around at the blue line and ripped a laser beam high to the stick side for the game winner with just 26 seconds left. Andrus got the win in net with 16 saves, while Herman took the loss, despite a gutty 22-save performance. As the saying goes: "It's a shame there has to be a loser."
