Tonight Rockford (16-11) faced off against the Marquette (18-5-3) who held the highest ranking of remaining D1 teams and have advanced to the Final Four 6 of the last 7 years. Needless to say the Rams were a prohibitive underdog in the game.
Marquette controlled play in the first 2 periods and was able to take a 1-0 lead midway through the 2nd on a scramble in front of the Ram goal. Marquette also went into the 3rd period with a 5-3 PP advantage to start the 3rd. Rockford penalty killers did their job at the start of the 3rd and kept the score at 1-0 until Marquette scored again to take a 2 goal lead.
Andrew Beeg (assisted by Adam Hoard) put Rockford on the board with 2 minutes left in the game, but the Rams were unable to get the tying goal. Overall, it was an excellent effort that fell just short for Rockford. Forrest Andrus was outstanding in goal for the Rams with 32 saves....many of which were of spectacular fashion.
Our special thanks to a very talented group of Seniors that played their last game for the Black and Orange. Congratulations on your accomplishments and best wishes in the future to our seniors...Sam Kreuze, Cody VanderWeg, Tyler Hall, Tyler Glass, and Andrew Beeg.

We played with them till' the end. Our goaltending was obviously much better than most people thought. A mid 90's save % is something to be proud of!Congrats to both teams. I hope those MQT boys win the whole thing! Good Luck to our Seniors, thank you for the incredible memories.

very suprised/happy with this score. RAM stayed in the game. we know high scores/wins MQT has against state ranked EM teams. rockford you deserve/earned great respect from all WM teams on this one game.
