Former East Kentwood player Matt Jones, who played two years of high school hockey for the Falcons, has signed an NHL contract with the San Jose Sharks, according to this report. The 6-foot-4, 220 pound forward has played the last two seasons at Merrimack College in Massachusetts. He lead the team with 15 goals this season and netted 7 assists. He's been assigned to their AHL affiliate in Worcester and could play his first professional game this weekend.

Congrats to Matt. Couldn't happen to a better young man. Looking forward to seeing him play in the AHL and NHL some day.
Way to go Matt! You're so deserving. We're all proud of you! Congratulations to the Jones family.
Would his dad be the same Mr. Jones that criticized the behaviour of the Mona coaches and players after 30 years as an off ice official?
Congratulations Matt! Good Luck and all the BEST wishes to you.
The Harwoods
Abdelkader signed with the Wings today
Knuble, Jones & Alexander on his way -all played at EK. Must be working. Congrats & great success to Matt.
what is with # 3 post? This is a West Michigan Blog. EK fans are just as happy about the great Muskegon player from MSU signing with Red Wings.
get over it. be happy for any WM hockey player who succeeds!
And "NO!" it isn't the same Mr. Jones...not that it would matter if it were.
Congrats to Matt, but it's too bad he could sign with a better team....
