And then there were 5...

For those of you who've been busy with real jobs, home improvement projects and church this weekend (ie, the whole "real life" thing), thought I might take a moment to fill you in: There are 5 West Michigan teams left in the playoffs -- regional champions all and members of the Elite 8 in their respective divisions. They are:

  • East Kentwood (D-1)
  • Rockford (D-1)
  • Portage Central (D-2)
  • Forest Hills Northern/Eastern (D-2)
  • Grand Rapids Catholic Central (D-3)

Because PC and FHNE play each other, at least one Michigan team will make it to the Final Four, but as many as four teams could end up playing at Compuware. But first things first. While the season has ended for most, the journey continues for these five teams, which all play on Tuesday and Wednesday nights in the state quarterfinals. We'll be previewing each of their games (including the one that matches PC and FHN/E) later on Tuesday. Congratulations to all, and let's hope that each of them draws a strong West Michigan contingent to their games this week!

Congrats to WM teams still in the hunt-GO FOR IT! Some strong WM teams lost this weekend. We know you will come back strong next season.
Anyone interested - check out EM teams advancing. Multiple state ranked teams in all divisions had to play each other in early playoffs. Some of the best now eliminated. Sure to be a battle now for all MI. teams moving forward. As fans we can all look forward to the unexpected - such is Hockey!!
