Rockford 9 Ottawa Union 0

Rockford was able to advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs with a 9-0 win over Ottawa Union from the Grand Rapids City League. The Rams get goals from 9 different players in the win. Christian Van Portfliet records the shutout in goal. GR Union/Ottawa battled hard to the end. A note from our Rockford Blogger: "The Rockford teams offers its congratulations to GR Union/Ottawa and their 1st year coach, Andrew Soper, for a nice season and good luck in the future. Rockford would like to congratulate all players for their fine effort and sportsmanship."

I know that a lot of teams thought that we (union/ottawa) were a pushover team at the beginning of the year. Even though we still got mercied late in the year in some games, we made some drastic improvements throughout the whole year and never gave up in any situations. I just wanted to let everyone know that we always played our hearts out, even until the time expired against rockford. Coach Soper did a awsome job taking a group of undisciplined kids and molding them into young men. He took a team that hasnt beat more than one team in over five years into beating three. For most this would not be a season that many would hope for, but i know that i will remember it as one of the best years for me and the school's program for many years to come.
