Three different tiers with three different stories this week in the OK Conference. Tier 1 had no action at all, so the standings remain unchanged with Kentwood up top, but Mona still undefeated in league play and Forest Hills Northern/Eastern is nipping at both teams' ankles.
In Tier 2, the standings got more confusing, as Forest Hills Central took two points from previously unbeaten Kenowa Hills, while both Hudsonville and Reeths Puffer had to fight for one-goal wins against Grand Haven and Jenison, respectively.
In Tier 3, the picture began to get a little clearer after a rollicking Friday night win by Lowell-Caledonia's over West Ottawa. L/C now sits two points ahead of the Panthers in what's looking to be a two-horse race for the conference crown. Of course, South Christian, Wayland and Northview are hoping to (and perfectly capable of) playing the spoiler.
Still lots of hockey to play in the next month, and this week has some huge matchups, especially in Tier 1 and Tier 2. Not to pre-empt myself, but Thursday's game between EGR and Kentwood is going to be huge in the Tier 1 race. Likewise, Forest Hills has a make or break week with games against Reeths-Puffer (Friday) and Hudsonville (Saturday).
Thanks to Coach Ballard from L/C for compiling and getting the word out on the OK Conference bright and early on a Sunday morning. As always, double click on the graphic below for a supersized look.
