Here's the lastest and greatest from keeper of the standings, Mike Ballard. The races in all three tiers are still wide open. In Tier 1, East Kentwood has crept into first place, though they've played two more than undefeated Mona Shores. FHN/E's loss to EGR on Friday and the OT loss to EK last night has them slipping back a bit, but they're still in striking distance.
In Tier 2, Kenowa Hills' win over Muskegon Reeths-Puffer last night gives them an edge in the standings, but Hudsonville is playing inspired hockey these days and don't count out Forest Hills Central either. A win this Wednesday night against Kenowa Hills would put the Rangers right back in the thick of it.
In Tier 3, mark this week Friday on your calendar. That's when the tier's two undefeated teams -- Lowell-Caledonia and West Ottawa -- face off for the first time this season. The winner gets an edge in the standings, though there's still plenty of hockey left.
Thanks to Coach Ballard for his diligence and timeliness. Remember, double-click on the standings picture above to see it supersized.

I would watch out for the Forest Hills Central vs. Kenowa Hills game on Wednesday night. The winner of that game will most likeyl be in the driver's seat for Tier 2. Forest Hills has dropped 2 games, but I saw the Hudsonville game. FHC dominated from start to finish, let in 2 horrible goals early, and certaintly did not get any help from the refs in OT, where two clear scoring chances were taken away, with one resulting in the winning goal for Hudsonville coming down the ice. Kenowa has a brick wall in net in Zac Smith. I would definetly take the time to come see this one Wednesday at 7 at Walker.
EK vs FHN/E was a season breaker for EK and probably for Forrest Hills too. If EK losses that game they are done for the conference race and probably go into a irreversable tail spin. I talked to some of the dad's at the game during the first and second period and they were totally dejected and ready to throw in the towel.
I am glad nobody told the kids how their dad's were feeling because they played their hearts out in the final stanza to secure the biggest win of Todd Bell's young career.
Great Job EK team we are very proud of you.
A Dad
kenowa and FHC will definetly be a big game. Vinny Klein and Joe Hankins are on a tear right now. and nothing gets by Fuzzy anymore. but FHC will be a tough match against the #2 team in the area
