The OK Conference has "clarified" its position on points earned for ties. Coach Ballard of Lowell-Caledonia has forwarded the WMHSH Blog an email from a conference representative that says: "Here is clarification on the hockey discussion we have been having. I must have still been on Christmas vacation or half a sleep when I sent out the last email. After reading the OK Conference Handbook further here is what should be happening.
A) If one team wins the game at the end of regulation the winning team earns two points, the losing team earns zero.
B) If a game is tied at the end of regulation (each team will earn one point). One overtime period must be played. If the teams are still tied at the end of the overtime period each team would only earn one point and the game would be called a tie.
C) If one team scores to win the game in overtime then that team earns 1 additional point - meaning they would get two points for the win and the losing team would get one point for the tie at the end of regulation.
I have had some coaches ask me if they have to play overtime - the answer is yes. I hope this clears things up and I am sorry for creating all the confusion."
No harm, no foul on the confusion. Reality: Win your games and the guys with ties won't matter.
