Rockford vs. Grandville (7 p.m. @ Walker) - Yeah, it's only December 12, but this is an important early-season league game that could help determine who can compete in the OK-1 and who is an also-ran. The Bulldogs are off to a good start (5-1 overall; 1-0 league), with the only blemish coming courtesy of a tough Saulte St. Marie team in the Soo Tourney. Rockford's .500 record (3-3 overall; 1-1 league) appears less impressive, until you consider the losses have come to highly-ranked Hartland, undefeated Waterford-Kettering in OT, and a one-goal loss to East Kentwood on the Falcon's home ice. While both teams are laden with young players, seniors provide the leadership. Andrew Beeg and Tyler Hall make it happen for Rockford, while Andy Grypma and Ian Strayer stir things up for Grandville. NOTE: Rockford is hosting a canned food drive at the game. Here's the deal: Any student who brings 3 cans of food gets free admission to the game; adults can get $1 off if they bring a can. All donations will be given to the North Kent Service Center.

The food drive is an awesome idea. Great job Rockford.
The can drive was a great thing for them to do. My son went to the game to see his friends that now play for Grandville and brought his cans for the food drive. Wish we'd have it done it for one of our games. Maybe next year.
