Mona Shores vs. FHN/E (4 p.m. @ Lakeshore) - If you talk to people at the rinks and read the comments on MLIVE and the always informative OK Hockey site, the winner of this game will be the "favorite" to win the OK-1 conference. While I agree that a win for FHN/E certainly puts them in the driver's seat at 3-0, a loss by Mona won't mean as much. The Sailors' early season schedule has been mostly non-conference games against tough competition (e.g., Trenton, Davison), and they've only played one league game, a 4-1 win over EGR. They've got lots of hockey left, including a Feb. 13 rematch with FHN/E. Still, this should be a good game. FHN/E is deep, tough and talented. It will be interesting to see if Mona's experienced defensive corps, anchored by junior Brock Carlston, can hold off FHN/E's explosive offense, including Jeff Johnston, Andrew Rennaker and Matt McSween.
