Portage Northern 4 Okemos 2

Portage Northern came back tonight to win a very exciting contest by a 4-2 score. Nik Basford and Blake Ramos each scored powerplay goals for Okemos in the opening period and carried a 2-0 lead into the second period. Portage Northern then tallied 4 consecutive goals to pull out the victory. Kevin Campbell got the Huskies on the board early in the 2nd period with a nice assist from Nicco Braganini. Sophomore Austin Campbell then scored his first goal of the season when he stole the puck from the Okemos defenseman and skated in for a breakaway goal. The 3rd Husky goal was scored shorthanded by senior Nick Kruse. Kevin Campbell stole the puck and sent it up the ice to Braganini who shot it at a surprised Okemos goaltender. Kruse was in perfect position to fire in the rebound. Northern's final goal was scored early in the 3rd period by Kevin Campbell with another assist to Braganini. Senior goalie Barry Toornman stopped 29 of the 31 shots to earn his second win of the season.
