Alumni games on tap - UPDATED

Look for some old time hockey in the coming weeks, as teams begin the annual ritual of hosting alumni games around the Christmas break. There are a few games on tap (and no, that is not a beer reference. Everyone knows old guys drink out of cans on the bench, not a keg). Anyway, the games that I know of include:

Grand Rapids Catholic Central will host its second annual alumni game on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. at Griff's. The alumni game will follow the Cougar varsity team's 3 p.m. contest against Haslett-Williamston. For information, visit www.grcchockey.com.

The Mona Shores Sailors Hockey Club will be hosting it alumni game on Wednesday, Dec. 26 at 7 p.m. At Lakeshore. With alumni like Justin Abdelkader, Travis Paeth, Kraig Kuzma and Adam Rowe invited (but not confirmed), this could be a pretty good game! For information, contact Chuck Wierengo (231-798-3853) or Scott Schrader (231-578-7306).

The Comstock Park/Northview co-op hockey team is having its second annual alumni game 8 to 10 p.m. Dec. 29 at Griff's Ice House, 30 Coldbrook St. NE, in Grand Rapids with open skate from 7 to 8 p.m. Visit eteamz.active.com/wildcathockey.

The Lowell-Caledonia team hosts it alumni for a game on Saturday, December 29 at 6 p.m. at Standard Federal/Patterson. For more information, contact Jim Blair at blair112@live.com.

The Kalamazoo Blades have scheduled an alumni game for December 30 at 1 p.m., to be played at the Wings Annex. For more information, visit their team website.

If you're hosting an alumni game in the near future, let us know and we'll post it here. The email is brian.h.edwards@gmail.com.
