Way back around Thanksgiving, when the WMHSH Blog started up, I threw a picture of the inimitable Don Cherry up on a weekend listing of games. Cherry, of course, is the former coach and the longtime "presence" on a hockey television program aired on the Canadian broadcasting station every Saturday night since 1952. My homage to Cherry et al. was to call it Hockey Night(s) in West Michigan and, honestly, there wasn't a whole lot of thought that went into it. A few weeks later, I cobbled together a logo based on the original HN logo and sheepishly put it up on the site, again proclaiming that Friday and Saturday were Hockey Night(s) on our side of the state. The logo was, suffice to say, amateurish and cheesy. And the fact that I was proclaiming both Friday and Saturday nights to be the peak of the hockey week no doubt pissed off the one Canadian who's been visiting my site according to the Web stats service I'm using.
So I was blown away when I got an email a few weeks back from an anonymous reader, who wrote: "Here is a new Hockey Night in West Michigan logo I came up with. I thought you might be interested in it for the blog." Wow. That is awesome and so is the logo. So check out the new logo for HNIWM and from this week forward, I do hereby proclaim Saturday night to be the official night for hockey in West Michigan.

I love it! Not a better weekend to kick it off either, with a rematch of Forest Hills Northern/Eastern vs Forest Hills Central. Sorry Rangers fans, but the outcome is going to be the same as the first tilt with the Huskies/Hawks victorious.
Looks terrific.
Hey...when are the T-Shirts coming out! I want one! The logo is awesome!
Hey! I think we finally have a real idea for the t-shirt! Have I told you lately that I love this site?
